During the fourth quarter of 2021, the top 5 news and magazines applications on the Android platform in Kenya exhibited varying performance trends in terms of downloads and active users, as per data from Sensor Tower.

Opera News: breaking & local saw a consistent decline in weekly downloads, starting at around 35K in late September and falling to about 9K by the end of December. The app's weekly active users also experienced a gradual decrease, moving from approximately 373K to 307K over the same period.

Citizen Digital had a significant fluctuation in weekly downloads, peaking at nearly 33K in late October before dropping to around 9K by the end of December. Its weekly active users grew steadily from approximately 51K in late September to about 87K in early December, before slightly declining to around 79K by the end of the quarter.

Scooper News: News Around You experienced a peak in weekly downloads in early October with about 25K, followed by a steady decline to approximately 8K by the end of December. The app's weekly active users mirrored this trend, increasing to around 22K in early October and then gradually decreasing to about 17K by the end of the quarter.

Opera News Lite - Less Data maintained a relatively stable number of weekly downloads, ranging between 6K and 12K throughout the quarter. The app's weekly active users showed a slight decline from around 145K in late September to about 125K by the end of December.

Mozzart Sport Kenya exhibited a relatively stable trend in weekly downloads, starting at around 6K in late September and ending at about 5.6K by the end of December, with occasional peaks.
